Life story work helps adults make sense of who they are, where they come from, and what has happened in their lives. It can be especially important when you’ve struggled with relationships, parenting, or friendships, as it gives you space to explore why certain patterns or difficulties might appear. The focus is on understanding your past, reflecting on your present, and thinking about your future.
The aim is to build a clearer and more accepting understanding of your life story—how your experiences have shaped you and how they may continue to influence your relationships with family, partners, friends, and others. Gaining this insight can be a powerful step toward developing a healthier sense of identity and moving forward in a more positive way.

Timescales: Life story work is a progressive piece of work. It will always start with research and preparation work, then some time getting to know the person informally before delving into the actual work. For many people this is 8 - 10 sessions, but for others it can be much longer.
