Getting Together Programme

What is SWFS Child & Family Support Programme?

Our Getting Together Programme is designed to provide essential family support services for families who need assistance in starting family time sessions—whether it's their first experience or a reconnection after a significant break. This programme spans six weeks, commencing from the moment we receive registration from both parents, and offers structured guidance to ensure family time gets off to a positive and sustainable start.

What Happens

Both parents must register and confirm their intention to participate in the Getting Together Programme. Once the registration fee is paid, we conduct an initial review of both parents’ forms to determine the suitability of the programme for your family’s circumstances. This marks the beginning of the six-week period.

We organize preparation discussions with both parents and, if necessary, an initial child-preparation session. These discussions are typically held virtually but can also be conducted in person if preferred. Following this, we facilitate three or four supervised family time sessions, usually on a weekly basis, as research shows that shorter and more frequent family time sessions tend to support children better than longer sessions spread further apart.

At the conclusion of the programme, we hold a brief review meeting to discuss the next steps.
